October 5th and 6th - A dreadful week for Tottenham ended with a three-nil defeat at Brighton to kick start the weekend's action. Neal Maupay scored for the hosts early on. Aaron Connolly scored twice to secure the three points for Graham Potter's side and move the Seagulls clear of the relegation zone. Today's defeat coupled with Tuesday night's seven-two defeat at home to Bayern Munich suggest all is not well in the Spurs' camp...

Liverpool's winning run looked to be coming to an end deep into stoppage time against Leicester. Marc Albrighton's trip on Sadio Mane saw a twist in the tale though as James Milner scored a 95th minute penalty to earn the leaders their 17th consecutive league victory. Mane, celebrating his one-hundredth league appearance for the Reds, opened the scoring in the first half. James Maddison's late leveller looked like making it a happy return to Anfield for Brendan Rodgers. Like his Liverpool side of 2013-14 though, they fell just short when it mattered...

Saturday's eye-catching result was at Carrow Road where Aston Villa won five-one. Wesley (2), Douglas Luiz, Jack Grealish and Conor Hourihane scored for the visitors who recorded just their second win of the season. Crystal Palace were Saturday's other victors on the road. Jordan Ayew's late winner, initially ruled out for offside but reinstated by VAR, saw the Eagles finish Saturday in the Champions League places.

Everton crashed to another defeat. This time it was at Burnley as Jeff Hendrick scored the only goal after his Irish teammate Seamus Coleman had been sent off. The Toffees, winners of the recent transfer window, are now in the bottom three after their fifth defeat of the season. Saturday's final game ended scoreless between Watford and Sheffield United.

Man City crashed to a two-nil defeat at home to Wolves on Sunday. Adama "Djimi" Traore scored twice in the second half to leave the champions eight points adrift of the leaders after just eight games. Their cross-city rivals fared no better. United lost one-nil at Newcastle - it was the first time in 23 attempts that Steve Bruce recorded a victory as manager over his former club.

Arsenal climbed to third in the table - David Luiz scored the only goal at the Emirates as they saw off Bournemouth's challenge. Chelsea are fifth after an excellent four-one win at Southampton - Abraham, Mount, Kante and Batsuayi scored the all important goals for Frank Lampard's side.

Javier Suarez tops the October leaderboard after the first weekend of the month. He has 45 points. Not far behind on 40 points come four players - Gerard McCluskey, Anthony Michaels, John Brophy and Philip Jordan - full details below:

October 25th to 27th - Liverpool struck late at Old Trafford to preserve their unbeaten run. Adam Lallana scored with just five minutes to go to cancel out Marcus Rashford's opener. Jurgen Klopp will be happy enough with a point after a poor performance from the leaders. Once again VAR will be the most talked about aspect of the game - firstly allowing Rashford's opener and then cancelling out Sadio Mane's goal shortly after.

Man City picked up their annual win at Selhurst Park to close the gap on the leaders to six points. Two goals in a minute from Gabriel Jesus and David Silva were enough to see the hosts over the line. Leicester and Chelsea remained in the Champions League spots with hard fought wins. Leicester came from behind to beat Burnley - goals from Jamie Vardy and Youri Tielemans saw Brendan Rodgers side pick up another three points. Marcos Alonso scored late on as Chelsea beat Newcastle one-nil at Stamford Bridge.

Tottenham's poor run continued - Dele Alli earned them a point at home to Watford late on in a one-all draw. Everton picked up a much needed three points, beating West Ham two-nil at Goodison Park. Bernard and Gylfi Sigurdsson were the scorers for Marco Silva's side.

Aston Villa picked up their third win of the season with a two-one win at home to Brighton. Adam Webster opened the scoring for the Seagulls but Villa came back to win two-one with goals from Jack Grealish and Matt Targett following Aaron Mooy's red card for the visitors. The points were shared at Molineux where Raul Jiminez scored for Wolves after Danny Ings opened the scoring for the visitors Southampton with his fourth league goal of the season.

Javier Suarez retains his lead in the monthly competition. He now has an eight point lead over John Brophy in second place. Gerard McCluskey stays in third place with Damien Martin and Paul Moore the big climbers this week, moving into the top five:

October 25th to 27th - The weekend's football opened with Southampton hosting Leicester on Friday night. You won't be surprised to hear that nobody picked up ten points following the nine-nil win for Brendan Rodgers side. The slaughter included hat-tricks for Ayoze Perez and Jamie Vardy as Leicester moved to second place overnight. They equalled Man United's record nine-nil win over Ipswich in 1995. The win was also a record away win in the Premier League era.

Liverpool maintained their six-point lead at the top with victory over Spurs. Harry Kane headed the visitors ahead after 47 seconds. Jordan Henderson, with his first goal at Anfield since December 2015, equalised before Mo Salah scored the winner from the spot with a quarter of an hour to go. Man City were held scoreless by Aston Villa until the second half but a flurry of goals from Sterling, De Bruyne and Gundogan gave the champions victory in the end.

The third hat-trick of the weekend came from Chelsea's Christian Pulisic in their four-two win at Burnley. Willian was also on the scoresheet before Sean Dyche's side scored twice late on to lend a bit of respectability to the final scoreline. That was Chelsea's seventh win on the bounce, leaving them sitting nicely in fourth place.

Sunday's games saw Man United score their 2000th Premier League goal. Scott McTominay scored that milestone goal in their three-one win at Norwich. They also conspired to miss two more penalties in that one. Crystal Palace came from two goals down at the Emirates to earn a point from Arsenal. Sokratis and David Luiz had the Gunners two up before Luka Milivojevic and Jordan Ayew struck back - the Eagles are now soaring in sixth place in the table.

Elsewhere this weekend, Brighton scored twice late on to beat Everton three-two. The winner was a late own-goal from Lucas Digne. The rest of the games ended with the points shared. Watford still haven't won this season but di pick up a point in a goalless draw with Bournemouth. Sheffield United came from behind to earn a point at West Ham, likewise for Wolves who drew one-all at Newcastle.

A fifty-five point haul from the weekend's games was enough for Gerard McCluskey to win the October prize. He had ten points to spare in the end from Javier Suarez in second place. John Brophy finished third with Paul Moore and Jonathan Fox completing the top five for the month:
